Niwaki’s Hori Hori have built something of a following. They might look a little medieval, but these trusty trowel-slash-knives are far more friend than foe (unless, of course, you’re a weed).
Traditionally used by Japanese farmers and foragers, Hori Hori literally means ‘dig dig’. Originally made for unearthing mountain vegetables — bamboo shoots, mushrooms, and other sansai — their list of talents has grown far beyond those humble beginnings: weeding, planting, seed drilling, pot scraping, stone prising, snail flicking… we could go on.
Hand-made and designed in Hyogo, Japan.
Forged from SK-5 carbon steel with a Beech handle, and a canvas sheath.
A note of caution: the Hori Hori may look like something from a medieval duel, but it’s really just a gardener’s best friend. Still, you must be an adult to purchase.
